Farm School

Children are given daily opportunities to explore the farm and the wonderful animals we look after, from feeding the ponies to grooming goats or collecting eggs. We learn about the natural world, food production, animal welfare and life cycles.

Understanding the world around us is a key part of children's early cognitive and physical development giving children a sense of place and broadens understanding through hands-on experiences.

Inside

Our indoor play space is gentle and well designed from a child's perspective providing a cosy domestic environment, our resources are open ended, natural and provoke inquisitive play.

Loose parts, sand and water are always available along with clays, dough and mark making tools using only high quality artists materials. We support process art and daily explorations with a variety of media.

Our days follow a child's natural rhythm with minimal imposed interruptions. We gather naturally for rest, music and meals.

Forest School

The Forest School ethos is woven through our days here, in our daily interactions and in our respect for the environment and our community.

Hannah trained as a Forest School practitioner 20 years ago. "There is so much more to Forest School than drinking hot chocolate around a camp fire. We encourage a deep and meaningful connection with the seasons and with nature through our Forest School Sessions."

Children learn to take risks safely, light fires, build dens and together we build friendships, resilience and confidence.

Transitions

Designed and built by Ben Law, our woodland bothy offers a beautiful additional space for our oldest children to use for their preschool sessions.

With direct access to the Forest School area and supervised access to the pond dipping platform, learning is broadened and extended naturally through the seasons.

We work closely with local schools, building relationships with teachers to ensure a smooth transition into Reception. We ensure that not only are our children ready for school, but also, that the schools are ready for your children.
